Calendar integration types
Compare provider connections, ICS subscriptions, recommended calendars, and one-time ICS imports.
Before you begin

There are several ways to bring another calendar into Harmonise.
The best option depends on whether you want the calendar to stay connected, whether you need to make changes to its events, or whether you only want to import its events once.

Connect a calendar account
Connect a Google, Outlook, Apple, Yahoo, or compatible CalDAV account when you want Harmonise to stay connected to your existing calendars.
Harmonise can keep supported events up to date between the connected account and Harmonise.
Some calendars may be editable while others may be read-only. This depends on the permissions provided by your calendar provider.
For example, a calendar you own may allow editing, while a calendar someone shared with you as view-only will remain read-only.
Subscribe using an ICS link
Choose an ICS subscription when another service gives you a calendar link that you want to follow.
Harmonise checks the subscription for updates over time, so new or changed events can appear automatically.
Subscribed calendars are read-only in Harmonise.
This option works well for calendars such as:
- Public schedules
- School or organisation calendars
- Community calendars
- Other services that provide an ICS subscription link
Add a recommended calendar
Recommended calendars are public calendars that you can add directly from Harmonise.
They update automatically and are read-only.
This is useful when you want extra information alongside your plans without managing the calendar yourself.
Import an ICS file
Use an ICS file import when you want to copy events into Harmonise once.
After the import, the events are no longer connected to the original file.
If the original ICS file changes later, those changes will not automatically appear in Harmonise.
Use a subscription instead if you want the calendar to continue receiving updates.
Which option should I choose?
Choose a connected calendar account if you already use Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Apple Calendar, Yahoo Calendar, or a CalDAV service and want it to stay connected to Harmonise.
Choose an ICS subscription if you have a calendar link and only need to view its events.
Choose a recommended calendar if Harmonise already provides the public calendar you want to follow.
Choose an ICS file import if you only need to bring a set of events into Harmonise once.
Read-only calendars
Not every connected calendar can be edited.
Your calendar provider decides what access you have to each calendar.
A connected account can therefore contain both editable and read-only calendars.
ICS subscriptions and recommended calendars are always read-only in Harmonise.
Where connected events appear
For supported connected calendars, Harmonise may let you choose which calendar in Harmonise should receive the synchronized events.
Read-only subscriptions and recommended calendars cannot be used as destinations for connected calendar events.
